Join us for a transformative workshop on Circular Bioeconomy in the Aquaculture Sector, a collaborative bilateral initiative under the “Business Development and Innovation Croatia” Programme financed by the Norway Grants 2014-2021. The event is co-organised by SINTEF Ocean, the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Innovation Norway and The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Zagreb.

The event is co-organised by SINTEF Ocean, the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Innovation Norway and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Zagreb.

The EU's emphasis on circular food production aligns with our shared sustainability goals. The workshop aims to foster collaboration between Croatia and Norway in developing a circular bio-marine industry, utilising the rest materials from fisheries and agriculture.

This event targets private sectors and universities/research institutions in both countries. Through knowledge-sharing and discussions, we aim to explore new opportunities in the circular bioeconomy, fostering new bilateral contacts and potential project ideas.

Workshop Sessions

Join us for engaging workshop sessions featuring distinguished speakers from Croatian and Norwegian universities, research institutes, private companies, as well as representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Zagreb and Innovation Norway. The sessions will delve into crucial topics such as:

  • The current situation and development perspectives of Croatian mariculture
  • Challenges in fish feed production – the need for sustainable raw materials
  • CO2 from industry-smoke in microalgae production
  • Aquaponic in Norway
  • Technology for use of sludge and biogas in circular bioeconomy

Event Details 

This workshop promises to be a dynamic platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange, driving innovation in the aquaculture sector. 

Both Norway and Croatia have a long coastline and can in the future develop new circular bio marine industry by use of rest materials from other industries (fisheries and agriculture).

This workshop will show new possibilities within the circular bioeconomy. This workshop will contribute to show the breadth of research that can now be taken over in new opportunities in the circular bioeconomy. It is therefore difficult to find many private companies that are relevant as speakers at this stage, but relevant companies will be invited as participants.

Travel support 

For up to 10 Norwegian participants a travel supportof euro 1200 per entity from The Business Development and Innovation Croatia Programme is offered.

Important note regarding participation

Please note that there is a maximum capacity of 35 participants in the meeting room.

As such, participation will be subject to approval to ensure relevance and maintain a balance between Norwegian and Croatian entities.
