38 million Euro in grants will be available under the EEA Grants Blue Growth Business and Research Programme in Portugal from 2019.

Main Target Group

  • Portuguese companies planning on developing projects in the realm of the blue economy, including the application of innovative research-driven technology and processes, that are potential applicants and partners for the business component of the EEA Grants Blue Growth programme..
  • Norwegian and Icelandic suppliers or developers of technologies or processes, as well as research institutes within Blue Growth / Ocean Space.

Icelandic and Norwegian companies who get granted access to the event based on the target group and topic criteria, are eligible to apply for 600 EUR travel support in the form of a lump sum in the aftermath of their participation. 

Relevant Project Topics

Examples of relevant topics for projects eligible under the EEA Grants are:
Fisheries/aquaculture (innovative products and technologies in fisheries sector), commercial ports, ocean renewable energy sector, maritime industry, including maritime transports technologies, off-shore infrastructures, robotics, technologies for deep sea resources and mapping, shipbuilding (innovative products and technologies) blue biotechnology and environmental monitoring and surveillance activities, innovative products and technologies which are already available in the market, or to develop new ones, that use marine litter as raw material.

Norwegian and Icelandic companies and research institutes can become partner to EEA Grants projects.

What are the EEA Grants?

The EEA and Norway Grants represent the contribution of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway to reducing economic and social disparities in Europe and to strengthening bilateral relations with 15 EU member states in Northern, Central and Southern Europe.

38 million Euro in grants will be available under the EEA Grants Blue Growth Innovation and SMEs Programme in Portugal from 2019.

Portuguese initiatives for developing, applying or commercialising products or services within Blue Growth / Ocean Space will be particularly relevant under the call.
