This question and others related to the blue economy and sustainable oceans were up for discussion when Innovation Norway and partners in the EEA and Norway Grants received a delegation from Portugal on April 18-20 2023.
The Greek NGO Women on Top is cooperating with partners in Norway and Iceland to explore the practices and methods that have helped Norway and Iceland to consistently rank at the top when it comes to gender equality in business. Their aim is of creating a toolbox that Greek companies could use to improve their equality and inclusion results. The Business Innovation Programme in Greece has launched a new open call for proposals which aims to support activities like this one. See more here!

Innovation Norway conducts an annual Customer Impact Survey for all Norwegian entities involved as donor project partners involved in the EEA and Norway Grants. The survey maps the expectations and levels of satisfaction with the financing received as partners in bilateral projects. The results from 2022 clearly show that the EEA and Norway Grants have added value!
Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage, or CCUS, is needed for Europe to meets its targets to cut emissions in line with the targets. But what is it? Together with Altera Infrastructure and the Norwegian Embassy in Lisbon, Innovation Norway organised a conference on CCUS in Portugal. Polish-Norwegian Cooperation has the potential to contribute with solutions, knowledge and cooperation on Energy Security. Innovation Norway and our Polish partner – the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP) - invited Polish and Norwegian businesses to the event Green Technologies for Energy Security during the 12th edition of the European Congress of SMEs in Katowice.
Innovation Norway and partners in the EEA and Norway Grants visited projects under the Energy Programme in Romania in the cities of Cluj-Napoca and Alba Iulia in October 2022. Portugal visited Norway on 7-9 November 2022 with a large delegation of high-level political officials and representatives from Portuguese businesses. The visit marked the strengthening of business relations between Portugal and Norway, both in terms of political cooperation and the interest in each others' markets.
On 8 November 2022, Innovation Norway and Portugal Global Trade and Investment Agency (AICEP) invited for a full day of seminars and networking at Sentralen, Oslo. More than 50 Norwegian and Portuguese businesses participated in a B2B matchmaking, exchanging valuable experience and contacts for future partnerships.
POLECO International Trade Fair for the Environment in Poznań, Poland, is one of the largest trade fairs in Europe. The Norway Grants Programme in Poland support participation by Norwegian businesses at trade fairs in Poland. This year, 16 Norwegian businesses travelled to POLECO. They met with entrepreneurs from 46 Polish companies and attended an event on circular economy entitled "There is no waste - there are only raw materials".
On 27 September 2022, Innovation Norway invited for an afternoon networking event at SALT during Oslo Innovation Week. Around 150 businesses, startups, entrepreneurs, scaleup professionals, research institutes and other stakeholders from Norway and five Central-European countries participated in matchmaking online and onsite.
Important update regarding the 3rd Call for Proposals in Greece The 3rd and final Call for Proposals under the Business Innovation Greece Programme makes available approx 8,750,000 euro to projects on Green Industry Innovation, Blue Growth or ICT. To allow more time for applications, it has been decided to extend the deadline for submissions until Thursday September 1st, at 13:00 local time. Applicants will therefore have more time to develop their applications and find relevant partners from Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. Innovation Norway is partner in the EEA Grants Programme on Environment in Portugal. In June, the partners organised a study trip to Portugal's impressive biosphere reserves together with the Norwegian project partner Nord-Hordaland Biosfære - the first and only biosphere reserve in Norway.
The event gathered 200 representatives of businesses, clusters, researchers and policymakers from 11 countries in Europe. More than 50 speakers led discussions on how to create business in blue growth, including thematic sessions on green shipping, blue bioeconomy, smart ports and offshore wind. The participants were eager to meet and discuss cooperation. The event was hybrid and 300-400 followed online. More have seen the recordings since. You can see recordings, pictures and results here!
The space industries sector is rocketing, both in Norway and in the Baltics. The EEA and Norway Grants include bilateral funds for exploring new business sectors, finding connect partners and preparing the grounds for cooperation. In June 2022, Innovation Norway invited partners and companies from Estonia and Latvia for a space trip to Norway.
Portugal, like other EU member states, is investing massively in the green and digital transition to implement the European Green Deal. Norwegian businesses can take part in tenders under the Recovery and Resilience Funds in Portugal and elsewhere. In May, 18 Norwegian businesses joined an event in Lisbon on this funding and a matchmaking with Portuguese partners.

The Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP) and Innovation Norway organised an event at SALMED in Poland. The event gathered 34 companies from Poland and 9 companies which had travelled from Norway with support from the Norway Grants. There will be more opportunities soon!
The Travel Support Call is open. To facilitate establishment of bilateral partnerships between enterprises in Bulgaria and partners in Norway, a Travel Support Scheme will be available. The intent is to prepare joint project applications for the upcoming call(s) under the Programme.

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Innovation Norway team up to organise a Seminar Series on the European Green Deal: Political Priorities and Opportunities for Business Collaboration. The series consists of five seminars organised each Thursday over a period of five weeks. The seminars will be recorded and made available here.

The 5th Norwegian Circular Economy Conference 2021 took place on 25 November 2021.
