Combating plastic waste pollution

Bucharest, May 22, 2019. Innovation Norway together with the Ministry of Environment of Romania, the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Norway, the Norwegian Environmental Agency and the International Union for Conservation of Nature  (IUCN), organized the international seminar „How to combat plastic waste pollution in Europe?” aiming to identify solutions and opportunities for the development of technologies in this field.

The event was attended by representatives of central public authorities, representatives of the private sector, of civil society, as well as representatives of the European Commission. More than 70 participants attended the seminar.

Among the speakers were Her Excellency Ms Lise Kleven  Grevstad, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Romania, the representative of European Union Comission, Mrs. Joanna Drake, Deputy General Director, the representative of IUCN, Mr. Alberto Arroyo, Senior Policy Manager, the representative of Innovation Norway, Mr. Knut Ringstad, Programme Director, Mr. Constantin Damov, Co-founder of the Green Group, Romania.

For the representatives of the Romanian business sector with activities in the field of plastic waste management, the seminar was a good opportunity to benefit from the experience of the Norwegian counterparts. The Norwegian experts presented examples of good practices from Norway and showed willingness to collaborate with the Romanian partners so as to apply and implement the good practice principles in Romania by carrying out joint projects in this sense.
