Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Renewable Energy Conference in Bucharest

At the initiative of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in Norway and the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE), a bilateral seminar was held in Bucharest, Romania on June 18-19, 2019, with support from Innovation Norway which is the program operator for the EEA and Norway Grants funded Energy Programme in Romania.  

The objective of the Energy Programme in Romania is to achieve less carbon intensive energy and increase security of supply and will support investments in renewable energy. In this context the main themes of the seminar were Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Renewable energy technologies - hydropower, geothermal energy, wind power and solar energy.

More than 80 participants from private and public sector, NGO’s and academia attended the seminar.

About 30 presentations were held, with focus on the status in the two countries regarding CCS and the different renewable technologies, as well as emphasized potential future areas of cooperation between Romania and Norway within the areas.
