Romania: Cake store developed greener process resulting in better competitiveness

The company Bendis Equilibrium are taking action to reduce their waste and emissions in their local cake store, by investing in new process equipment with the help of Norway Grants. 

The family run business Bendis Equilibrium was founded in 2017 and started their local cake store and laboratory in Deva City. Interested in increasing their capacity to produce cakes, they applied within the SMEs Growth Programme in Romania and managed to fund this endeavour through the Norway Grants.

The aim of the project was to increase the company’s competitiveness, by acquiring new, innovative equipment capable to ensure an autonomous production flow and increase of the production capacity in the cakes and sweets industry.

By implementing new equipment, the overall efficiency and productivity has been improved, and the technical solution has contributed to reduce the energy consumption and waste from the production process. The improvement has also impacted the working environment and contributed to an eco-friendly sustainable growth for the company.

Expected results of the project

  • 185% increase in turnover by the year 2023
  • 284% increase in net operational profit at the end of year 2023.
  • Annual decrease in energy consumption from 110 Mwh to 95 Mwh.
