Hidro Jepi is a private Romanian company, from Busteni, Prahova County, active in the renewable energy generation sector. Locally and regionally, Hidro Jepi S.A. is one of the small local players that produce green power and deliver to the national system resources needed for a competitive economy.
Sustainable energy business
The company’s main goal is to develop and consolidate a sustainable energy business in the emerging green economy. The project harnesses the available hydropower potential on the eastern slope of the Caraiman mountains in the Bucegi mountains.
To enhance hydropower production, Hidro Jepi is installing new turbines to use the full production potential and further developing the business by selling electricity to companies in Busteni: supermarkets, warehouses and production facilities.
Mr Romeo Lalu, General Manager of Hidro Jepi, also states that:

Benefitting from Norwegian expertise
The construction of the Small Hydropower Plant will be made possible through the involvement of Minihydro Norge AS, a Norwegian company supplying electromechanical equipment to small and medium sized hydropower plants. The company has already supplied equipment to more than 20 hydropower plants with a total installed capacity of more than 60MW.
Given the technical expertise of the company, the Norwegian partner is actively involved in the project implementation and has a very important role in the selection of the equipment for the new hydropower plant, supervision of the construction works and installations, review any risks, test the equipment and the IoT software that will be installed.
Expected results of the project
- Estimated annual growth in turnover: 26% at the end of 2023 compared to baseline year 2020
- Estimated annual growth in net operational profit: 78% at the end of 2023 compared to baseline year 2020
- 1 new Small Scale Hydropower Plant
- Estimated annual CO2 emission reductions: 205 tonnes of CO2 eq./year
- Energy produced from hydropower sources in MWh/Year: 674 MWh/year
