Romania: Smart MicroGrid Controller

Use of renewable resources for energy production represents an active domain with an accelerated development at international level. At the same time, microgrids are emerging as a valuable technology for future energy supply systems. In this space, Societatea de Inginerie Sisteme (SIS S.A.) aims to increase the number of microgrid systems implemented at national level through the Smart MicroGrid Controller project, funded by the EEA and Norway Grants.

SIS is a system integrator operating in the field of industrial automation for oil and gas, renewable energy, water management systems and facility management systems. It is the exact type of business entity able to implement a microgrid solution specifically tailored for the needs of the market.

The contribution from EEA and Norway Grants has helped to a great extent the development of the Smart MicroGrid Controller project, since:

• By obtaining the grant, the company's financial effort was reduced and the project could be implemented more quickly with the main source of money insured;
• Through this support, SIS SA had the opportunity to use amounts from its own budget to achieve other objectives within the investment program

Results of the project

• The entry into production will be possible from the first year after validation of the pilot, which allows the obtaining of incomes that will ensure the financial sustainability of the investment;
• The creation of 2 jobs;
• The growth of the net turnover with a 52% increase in 2026 compared to 2017
