This one-week visiting program consists of thematic seminars, presentations, networking events, site visits and one to one business meetings.
Norwegian embassy and Consulate General, Norwegian business community in Hong Kong will give full support to the program. Authorities in Hong Kong and Guangdong province have shown interest to cooperate with Innovation Norway on co-organizing the event.
Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area have set ambitious goals to reduce emissions in the shipping sector and the implementation plans are progressing well with the introduction of advanced zero-emission technologies.
Pilot projects on electric ferry in Hong Kong and river-and-coastal shipping upgrading projects in the GBA showing the dynamics of the industry as well as the priorities on the application of climate change technologies given by the regional government bodies.
The Hong Kong government has earmarked HK$35 million to provide subsidies for the construction and trials for electric ferries and associated charging facilities for 4 in-harbour routes. In addition, subsidies were allocated to ferry operators of 6 major outlaying island ferry routes to construct new hybrid ferries in the first phase of the new Vessel Subsidy Scheme.
