Global Growth - Offshore Wind US

American coastal waters represent a vast offshore wind energy resource with the potential of producing more than 2000 GW of electrical power. The offshore wind projects currently in the pipeline along the US East Coast are expected to generate well over one hundred billion USD in investments over the next decade. This emerging market represent tremendous opportunities for Norwegian companies already doing business in the established European offshore wind market, as well as solutions providers with specialized offshore expertise from the petroleum and maritime industries that could be transferred to tackle offshore wind challenges.
This Global Growth program will combine preparatory market orientation courses in Norway with market visits to the US where we will meet with key industry players and stakeholders driving the development of the US offshore wind industry. We want to gather a group of ambitious companies that have strategic export goals, as well as the commitment and resources to follow through in the pursuit of transatlantic business opportunities.
In collaboration with the Norwegian Offshore Wind Cluster (NOWC), Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), we invite you to participate in the Global Growth program for the US offshore wind market.
Great possibilities
The US currently has very little offshore wind installed capacity, but commercial activity is ramping up quickly and will generate opportunities for well positioned Norwegian companies to export to the US market or to partner with US companies.
As of the end of January 2022, there were over 45 offshore wind projects in development in the United States, representing $136 billion in capital expenditure and $4.4 billion in annual OPEX. Offshore wind bottom-fixed projects are planned all along the US East Coast from Massachusetts to South Carolina. On the West and Gulf Coasts there are proposed lease areas with ambitions for developing floating offshore wind. However, the timeline for these projects is considerably longer as they are still in the early stages of the regulatory approval process.
What you get
The goal of the program is to help your company increase exports by enabling you to better understand the opportunities, obstacles, and challenges in the market.
We aim to bring Norwegian expertise and solutions into the US offshore wind industry where there is still comparatively little experience developing offshore wind projects and the where the local industry is actively looking to Europe’s three decades of experience. Based on identified needs in the US offshore wind market, we will give a selected group of Norwegian companies access to unique arenas for meetings with key US market players and stakeholders.
You will receive help to identify potential customers and partners, as well as support toward making that initial sale. Based on your focus and needs, you will be introduced to key personnel within the industry, including state regulatory authorities, offshore wind farm developers, top tier suppliers, financial institutions, and other potential customers.
Who should sign up
Companies with relevant products and services for the US offshore wind market which have a high level of ambition, an export strategy supported by their board and executive management, sufficient financial resources and capacity for investment, as well as the ability to scale up.
