Green mobility

Norway has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transport by 45 per cent by 2030. The transport sector faces challenges related to emissions, mobility and safety. New, effective solutions will give Norwegian companies a competitive edge and create export opportunities.
We offer a range of funding schemes that can help develop green mobility solutions:
- Pilot-T is a grant for new, smart mobility solutions.
- The Environmental Technology Scheme provides grants for developing and demonstrating more environmentally friendly transport solutions.
- Innovation contracts provide grants to develop new solutions through close collaboration between a supplier and a pilot customer.
All three grant schemes target innovative projects that aim to develop and test a new product or service in the market.
We also offer the Green Growth Loan, which may be relevant once you reach the investment phase.
Who can receive funding?
Our target group includes suppliers and transport companies planning innovative projects to develop more environmentally friendly transport solutions. Collaboration with end users and pilot customers is important for successful development projects, and we encourage you to establish relevant consortia.
This includes companies of all sizes throughout Norway. The public sector is not eligible, but publicly owned companies can apply.
We expect your company to uphold the principles of responsible business conduct and have guidelines for ethics and corporate social responsibility.
Which projects are covered?
We can fund projects that are relevant to a global market. You are encouraged to develop the solution with international partners. The aim is to create cost-effective, reliable, safe, environmentally friendly and resource-efficient transport solutions.
Future mobility solutions cover all forms of transporting goods and people – by air, land or sea – as well as solutions that enable smarter planning and better use of transport capacity. User-friendliness, safety and cost-effectiveness are key priorities.
We are looking for innovative solutions in areas such as
- Climate-friendly propulsion systems – electric, battery-powered, hydrogen, fuel cells and other technologies that do not emit greenhouse gases
- Low-emission and hybrid solutions
- Infrastructure technology for zero-emission solutions
- Autonomy (self-driving solutions)
- Digital solutions involving sensors, traffic management, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), satellite-based positioning and observation data, and similar technologies
- Logistics and traffic management systems for freight and passenger transport
- 'Last mile' solutions. Smart, zero-emission transport over short distances that makes passenger and freight transport more time-, cost- or energy-efficient
- New services or business models
- Other factors that contribute to the transport system of the future
You should support the project with evidence that demonstrates its feasibility and impact on your business.
The project must have the potential to strengthen your company's competitiveness, expand into new segments and create jobs in Norway.
We also offer other financial instruments that may be relevant to companies investing in the green transition. Innovation loans can support the commercialisation of new solutions, strengthen working capital, and enable growth and international expansion. Other funding schemes are also available from Enova, the Research Council of Norway and EU programmes for radical innovation.
