Hørte Farm wins agricultural award in Buskerud

'Receiving this award is a great honour and confirms that we are doing something right here at Hørte. It is a valuable recognition of our work to create high-quality products based on organic principles, and it gives us renewed motivation to continue developing our unique identity,' says Anders Hørthe.
Today, the farm is a major vegetable producer focused on sustainability, the circular economy and long-term operations. It has its own packing facility and sells its organic products under its own brand in both grocery shops and online stores. With 50 full-time equivalent employees, the company is a major employer in the local community.
The jury is impressed
Our Regional Director in the county, Kristin Willoch Haugen, says the company has impressed the jury.
«The jury is impressed by the wide-ranging operations at Hørte farm. They run a strong business and employ as many as 50 people during the season. »
'They are also a leading player in organic and sustainable agriculture and highly innovative in both their products and production methods,' she says.
The award winner has adopted modern technology and precision farming across its diverse vegetable production. It has extensive knowledge of soil biology and soil health and has tested various techniques to improve soil life and retain nutrients while building up carbon in the soil.
- We are passionate about soil and plant health, with a strong focus on harnessing circular resources and sharing knowledge to create outstanding taste experiences.
«Our goal is for our products not only to taste good, but also to represent sustainable production you can trust.»
The award winner hopes that the care shown for the plants and products also brings value to customers:
'We hope that you, as a consumer, will recognise the care and hard work that go into our products when you choose them in the shop,' he says.
- Each year, we present the Business Development Award in Agriculture on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
