Road markings for the global market

In Trysil, high-tech solutions are being developed for marking roads, airports and car parks. The company manufactures machinery and equipment for customers in several countries, with exports accounting for 50 per cent of sales. Now, Trysil Maskin is changing its name to reach new markets.

Trysil Road Marking Machines (Trysil RMM) is Norway's only manufacturer of road marking machines and is the market leader in both Sweden and Finland. Founded in 1982, the company generated NOK 50 million in revenue last year and aims to double its revenue by 2025. It plans to increase international sales and expand into more European countries and the US. The company has already achieved market breakthroughs in Australia and Argentina.

Selected for the Global Gateways export programme

The international expansion requires competence building and access to agents or local partners. The company recently joined our Global Gateways export programme, giving it close support throughout the export process. A dedicated internationalisation adviser will help minimise risk and provide fast access to new markets.

'By gaining a thorough understanding of the company's needs, we can offer the best of our expertise, advisory services and networks,' says Josien Bouwman, internationalisation adviser at Innovation Norway Innlandet.

The programme is one of the many services we offer export companies. In addition to advisory, participation in networks and competence-building services, we provide funding for Norwegian companies with international ambitions. We can also connect companies with EU funding opportunities. Together with Eksfin, we give Norwegian companies opportunities to secure sales contracts that contribute to value creation and employment in Norway.

'With support from Innovation Norway, we successfully broke into the UK market in 2021. We will now continue working together through the Global Gateways programme. Innovation Norway has supported every stage in the development of our innovative Trafficprinter since we launched the prototype in 2012, and we are now ready for global markets,' says Jon Kjetil Jutulstad, CEO of Trysil RMM.

Hilde Hukkelberg, EVP of our London office, points out that Jutulstad and his team of 27 employees have worked with dedication and a long-term focus to secure one of the UK's leading road-marking specialists as their first customer. We are now preparing a launch for Trysil RMM in partnership with the Norwegian Embassy in London.

'The growth potential is significant, and we look forward to playing a proactive role as they develop new markets,' says Hukkelberg.

Jobs in rural areas

The company has previously received several grants from us to develop machinery and software, as well as loans to expand its production facilities.

'Helping to create more jobs in rural areas is one of our key priorities. Public grants have helped reduce the company's financial risk, and supporting skilled jobs in the village has also been important to us, as this creates positive ripple effects for the local community,' says Sverre Bjørnstad, EVP for our Innlandet regional office.
