The finalists for the 2024 National Rural Development Award have been announced
This year, we have once again presented regional business development awards in every county in Norway. The regional winners work in fields ranging from cider, food and grain production to truly distinctive culinary experiences. What they all have in common is that they build on the resources of agriculture and rural communities.
All the regional winners are competing for the national award, which will be presented at the Internationale Grüne Woche food and agriculture fair in Berlin in January 2024. We have now selected three finalists who will compete for the national award.
Hørte Farm
Based in Sylling by Lake Tyrifjorden in Buskerud, this major vegetable producer focuses on sustainability, the circular economy and long-term operations. The farm has its own packing facility and sells its organic produce under its own brand in grocery shops and online. With 50 full-time equivalent employees, the company is a major local employer. To Elise From Marius
Husband-and-wife team Elise Bratteng Rønning and Marius Martinsen have built a thriving business in the small village of Utskarpen in Helgeland. Together, they have created an outstanding food destination offering both culinary experiences and accommodation. Their 'pasture-to-table' concept brings unique dining experiences to the 'Til Elise' farm hotel and the 'Fra Marius' farm restaurant. Vossabia
Renate Lunde took over the farm in Bulken near Voss 25 years ago. Since then, her skincare and haircare products have reached more than 100,000 customers through 120 retailers across Norway. Vossabia uses local, organic ingredients such as honey, beeswax and wild herbs to ensure high-quality products. Renate and Vossabia are pioneers in natural cosmetics.
