Healthcare industry launched as new export initiative

Minister of Trade and Industry Jan Christian Vestre and Minister of Health and Care Services Ingvild Kjerkhol presented the new initiative at Oslo Science Park today.
The goal is to increase export revenues from NOK 22 billion in 2021 to NOK 50 billion by 2030. The health industry has a large global market, with 70 per cent of exports going to the US and Canada, as well as significant activity across the Nordic region, Europe and Asia. This initiative is part of the Norwegian Government's export reform, 'All of Norway Exports'.
'We look forward to implementing the government's new measures in close collaboration with the industry. Norway has world-class health research and a young, ambitious health industry. This offers enormous potential for growth,' says our CEO, Håkon Haugli.
The health export initiative has been allocated NOK 20 million for 2024. The government wants the initiative to strengthen Norway's health industry internationally and raise the profile of Norwegian solutions. This will include developing a marketing strategy and brand-building measures. We will be responsible for implementing the measures under the initiative.
These are the measures to increase exports from the health industry:
- Joint export initiatives targeting key markets in Europe, North America and Asia
- Mobilise Team Norway to help increase healthcare exports
- Bundling digital products
- Dedicated marketing strategy for the health industry
- Joint promotion and brand building for the health industry
- Strengthening Invest in Norway to attract more healthcare investment to Norway
- Integrating the health industry into the Nordic industrial partnership
- Further develop the health technology scheme to accelerate the adoption of new solutions
- Further develop NorTrials – a partnership between the regional health authorities and the business sector
- Establish an advisory service for municipalities and suppliers
- Clear guidelines for collaboration between health trusts and businesses
- Harmonisation of standards, including with the EU
- Follow up on the roadmap for the health industry and maintain close dialogue with the sector
- The initiative is led by a project board comprising representatives from the health industry
