Connecting startup communities with investors

The database is called ‘Norwegian Tech Ecosystem Database’ and currently includes around 3,000 Norwegian start-ups. Oslo Business Region was the first to adopt the platform, so around 1,800 of the companies currently listed are based in the Oslo area. We are now working with Oslo Business Region to expand the database’s coverage nationwide and provide easy access to our public data.
In Trondheim, we have already been actively promoting the database to the business community, and we will work with Trondheim Tech Port on its use in the region.
Easier to navigate
The database primarily connects startups, mainly in the technology sector, with investors. This improves access to capital for early-stage companies and makes it easier to navigate the technology business ecosystem.
The platform draws much of its content from public data, including information about many of the startups we have supported with loans and grants in recent years.
- 'Norwegian Tech Ecosystem Database' is a service that will make it easier for startups and investors to find each other, creating significant value for both. We already know that our funding unlocks more private capital, so we are delighted to add our funding data to this database. The platform is an exciting tool that brings together information about Norway's entire startup ecosystem, making it accessible both in Norway and internationally,' says our CEO, Håkon Haugli.
International platform
Dealroom is a global platform, and the other Nordic countries are already represented.
The database is operated by Dealroom.co and is currently the most comprehensive international platform for showcasing start-ups and their wider ecosystems.
Every company, investor and other organisation in the database has its own profile, making it visible on Norwegian Tech Ecosystem. The information available about each company may include how it is funded, its patents, contact details and more.
An investor profile typically shows which companies the investor has invested in, both in Norway and internationally, and which sectors they focus on.

Norwegian startups and scale-ups face strong competition, and Dealroom provides international data. Oslo Business Region's initial experience with the platform has been positive:
'I find that international investors are curious about Norway, and the database provides up-to-date data on both individual companies and our business ecosystems. We believe a Norwegian platform will strengthen our international competitiveness going forward. After Norway, the Oslo platform receives the most visits from Germany, the US and the UK,' says Siw Andersen, CEO of Oslo Business Region.
The Norwegian Tech Ecosystem Database is expected to grow as more public data becomes available and more companies actively use the platform.
