‘The government wants to help bring more large-scale, ambitious research and innovation projects to life and encourage more companies to invest in green and sustainable solutions. These exciting projects can accelerate the green transition in business, develop new green value chains and strengthen the international competitiveness of Norwegian businesses,’ says Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie Myrseth.

Twelve major research and innovation projects across Norway will receive funding to develop new climate- and environmentally friendly solutions for businesses. The funding will support projects developing next-generation battery systems, reducing emissions in the seafood industry, integrating sail technology into ships and developing future-oriented mobility technologies.

'The government’s ambition is for Norway to be one of the world’s leading countries for creating jobs, starting businesses and developing new industries. We have a strong business support system, which is an important tool for strengthening the competitiveness of Norwegian businesses. We are also working to ensure a predictable business environment that gives companies the confidence to invest,' says Minister of Trade and Industry Myrseth.

‘98 companies are now joining forces with 50 other partners across 12 consortia and value chains to develop solutions that cut emissions and strengthen Norway’s competitiveness. These span minerals, the maritime sector, construction, renewable energy and more. Once again, the circular economy and digitalisation are common themes. These projects can deliver significant environmental benefits, create substantial value and offer strong export potential,’ says our CEO, Håkon Haugli.

The 12 projects will receive up to NOK 784 million in total and will also contribute significant funding of their own. The combined budget for the 12 applications is approximately NOK 1.3 billion.

The projects receive funding through the Green Platform initiative, funded by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries and jointly administered by us, the Research Council of Norway and Siva.
