Kristian Bye joined the Silicon Valley office in summer 2020. He has an extensive background from the Norwegian Startup scene, and has worked as business developer and mentor for individual companies, accelerators and Innovation Norway programs like Global Growth and Green Industry Innovation (in Bulgaria). Kristian was co-founder of BRIGHT Products and secured long term contracts with the UN for the Norwegian solar lamp SunBell. He was also engaged in the launch strategy for reMarkable, the Norwegian Paper tablet and served one year as VP Marketing. He has been guest lecturer at the Masterclass for Entrepreneurship at the University of Oslo. Before he became a full time entrepreneur with BRIGHT, Kristian worked for 18 years in leading roles in the Norwegian Advertising industry.
Åse Pettersen Bailey

Åse joined Innovation Norway San Francisco in 2005 and has promoted business opportunities for Norwegian companies and organizations in the US market and managed the resulting business development projects. Åse is the program director of TINC, our technology incubator program, and an industry specialist in IT and Digital Health. She has lived in Silicon Valley for 20+ years working at local startups, hardware and software companies. She has over 10 years experience in international product development and release, including 5+ years managing global products at a major enterprise software company in Silicon Valley. Åse has en extensive network in Silicon Valley and leading global IT environments.
Kelly Ratchinsky is passionate about innovation in the cleantech, marine, and mobility industries. She has been a Project Manager for Innovation Norway since joining in December 2018. Kelly manages finding new growth opportunities for Norway; seeking both Invest in Norway and Export opportunities. Kelly is an Ocean Engineer who worked as an Offshore Project Engineer laying oil pipelines in the Gulf of Mexico. She earned her MSc Ocean Engineering with a focus on autonomous vehicles and renewable energy systems.
Lisbeth B. Smestad

Lisbeth has been with the San Francisco office since 1990, prior to that she was the chancellor at the Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco. For the past 10+ years, Lisbeth has been the program manager for the Norwegian School of Entrepreneurship (Gründerskolen), an academic internship summer program for Norwegian master students. She also manages the Research and Educational Network (REN), a professional network focused on elearning, edtech and competence development. Having lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 40 years, Lisbeth has an extensive local network - with special emphasis on entrepreneurship, as well as the edtech, energy and IT sectors.
Rebecca Scheel has spent the last 15 years looking at economic development under different lenses. First as a researcher at the OECD in Paris, then managing an accelerator program in Copenhagen helping Danish startups enter the US market and fundraise, after which she worked as an entrepreneur. Rebecca joined Innovation Norway in May 2018 and currently employs her vast experience in bridging the gap between large tech companies looking for opportunities in the Nordic Region, primarily focusing on clean energy. She has an Executive MBA, an MA in international politics and a certificate in clean energy. While a Silicon Valley native, Rebecca speaks fluent Danish and French, and is working on her Norwegian.
