IP grant for assessing intangible assets

The IP clarification grant is for entrepreneurs and businesses with innovative solutions and international ambitions, where intellectual property (IP) and intellectual property rights (IPR) are essential for further development, funding and growth.
To be considered, you must
- your company must be actively engaged in advisory discussions with our IPR advisers
- you must be a Norwegian entrepreneur or small business
- the project must be innovative and have strong potential for innovation
- your company must have international growth ambitions
- our contribution must be instrumental in making the project happen
- your company must be eligible to receive de minimis state aid
The grant will help you identify what you should protect, who should own what, and how you can use these assets and grow their commercial value in new markets.
Clarifying ownership and protection early and systematically, while reducing IP-related risks, helps your company make better strategic decisions before making major investments and commercialising its solutions.
You can use the grant to purchase external IP expertise, including
- assessing eligibility for protection and conducting preliminary searches
- supporting documentation for freedom-to-operate assessments
- IP mapping and IP/IPR strategy
- legal assistance (agreements, ownership, licensing)
- assistance with product imitations and counterfeiting
The grant does not cover
- costs associated with filing and maintaining patent, trademark or design applications
- conflict management
- prototyping, marketing activities, travel or subsistence expenses
The grant amount ranges from NOK 15,000 to NOK 50,000. We determine the final amount based on the project's needs and purpose.
We will make the payment once you provide documentation of the completed work and a copy of the invoice excluding VAT.
