Welcome to the HIPpening! This is the first ever in-person gathering of HIP-supported innovators, taking place in Nairobi on 3-5 March, 2026. We hope you will join us for three days of tailor-made activities that aim to meaningfully connect you with other projects, learn, and receive hands-on project support from HIP's network of experts. The event will provide two days of learning and working together, followed by a third day where we open up to a wider audience to showcase humanitarian innovation and seek out relevant collaborations across sectors.

Through this event, developed by HIP and Thinkplace Kenya, we aim to strengthen the capacity of HIP projects through peer-learning, expert inputs, and creative problem-solving.

Join us to build meaningful connections across projects, partners, and regions, enabling your team to find collaborations can unlock stronger outcomes, and create synergies across the HIP ecosystem. Day 3 will provide visibility for HIP innovations to external stakeholders. We are building a program designed to ensure teams leave with clearer next steps for strengthening and scaling their solutions.

Day 1-2 will be an internal event exclusively for HIP-supported projects.

All stakeholders in the projects are encouraged to attend: the project managers, staff implementing locally, HQ and regional staff, private partners and any other relevant stakeholders.

The agenda includes workshops covering a selection of the HIP "curriculum" essentials: how to partner across sectors, design business models, design with and for end-users, and measure and scale humanitarian impact. We are partnering with Thinkplace Kenya to craft an agenda that will meet your project where it is, target your needs for support, learning and collaboration, and provide the necessary resources to lift your project to the next level.

You will be able to choose between workshops depending on where you are in your innovation journey, and book time to workshop your project with subject matter experts. You will also be connecting with your fellow innovators and be encouraged to scale and solve challenges togehter.

On day 3, together with the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi, we will open up to a wider audience to showcase humanitarian innovation and encourge engagement with potential partners across sectors.

The day will consist of a panel discussion, a co-creation session and a showcase of HIP innovations.

When you sign up via this site, you are registering for all days.

A detailed agenda and logistical details will be shared soon.
