Ingers gårdsmat wins Finnmark agricultural award

'We are deeply moved and proud to receive the BU Award from Innovation Norway. Traditions have been passed down through generations in our family, and we have devoted countless hours to creating quality products we can be proud of,' says award winner and general manager Inger Johanne Larsen.
Across Norway
At Nyvoll in Alta municipality, she and her daughter Katrine are the company's only two employees. Their specialities include cured leg of lamb, semi-dried leg of lamb, cured lamb ribs, lamb shank, rolled lamb and cured lamb shoulder, appealing to both local and national markets. Producing food of such high quality takes a great deal of work, and Inger Johanne sees the award as recognition of their efforts:
'We are incredibly grateful to the loyal customers who have appreciated our craftsmanship and passion for food over the years. This award recognises the hard work, all the early mornings and late nights that have made Ingers gårdsmat what we are today. It inspires us to keep developing our business while always respecting the traditions on which it is built,' she says.
Profitable local food
This year, Ingers gårdsmat is producing food from around 600 lambs. The company now aims to grow and expand production. In its citation, the jury highlights the company's financial growth and profitability. Among other things, the company has participated in the international agricultural festival IGW in Berlin for three consecutive years as part of the Norwegian delegation. Our Regional Director for the Arctic region is impressed by the company's work:
'It is a pleasure to present the Rural Development Award to a women-led business in rural Finnmark with the capacity to innovate and grow. For many years, the company has brought excellent, high-quality lamb products to market. Through their commitment to agriculture, Inger and Katrine are helping to raise the profile of local food in Finnmark,' says Anne Berit Figenschau.
