Norway's health industry accelerates in Europe and the US

With 67 per cent of their healthcare products and services already destined for Europe and the US, Norwegian companies are well positioned to address global health challenges.
Strategic partnerships and visibility
At the latest event in Oslo, representatives from the Norwegian embassies in Washington and Berlin, the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared insights into how they support Norwegian healthcare companies abroad.
«We receive clear feedback that informal meetings in a neutral setting, such as ours, help exporters share experiences and address challenges directly.»
Laerdal Medical, Bayer and Curida shared their experiences of international growth and gave concrete examples of how tailored support helps companies scale and innovate in competitive markets.

'It was truly exciting to hear about the enormous opportunities ahead of us in the German and wider European markets, particularly how strategic partnerships and greater visibility can unlock real growth. The potential of the US market also stood out as a clear path for Norwegian healthcare companies ready to scale internationally,' said Heidi Blengsli Aabel, CCO at Vitalthings and Chair of the export initiative.
Strongest potential for international growth
This was the second event for the health export initiative. Based on input from a range of companies, the team has so far delivered:
- A delegation visit to Berlin in support of the German-Norwegian healthcare agreement
- A radiopharmaceutical trade mission to Japan ahead of Expo 2025
- Individual follow-up with companies scaling in the US market
- A detailed baseline analysis of healthcare product and service exports to fine-tune the strategy
The healthcare initiative's 'national team' comprises 37 carefully selected companies with both the market position and the potential to export internationally. The group continues to grow, supported by our international advisers and regional offices.
