Norwegian maritime innovation achieves international breakthrough

'We needed to understand which markets and customers were most relevant to us. AI gave us a good starting point, but we needed local insight to move forward,' says André Listou Ellefsen, CEO of Dipai.
Initial market research
Dipai used artificial intelligence (AI) to conduct initial market research among international shipping companies. But to gain deeper insights and assess potential customers against specific criteria, they needed local knowledge and direct contact with key industry players.
«AI provides a broad overview, but not necessarily precise answers. We needed human insight – someone who knew the market well and could open the right doors for us.»
Connect with potential customers
We brought in our offices in both North and South America. Our team in Brazil provided market mapping and facilitated introductions to potential customers.
'In Brazil, references and relationships are crucial, and it is important to understand the profiles of the different players. We were able to provide local insight and networks, helping Dipai identify and connect with the right customers,' says Thomas Conradi Granli, who heads our office in Rio de Janeiro.

Signed contract
Dipai has now signed its first international contract – with a large, well-established shipping company in Brazil.
'A milestone for us! Our team in Brazil made it possible for us to enter the international market by introducing Dipai to the right customers and facilitating dialogue with them. Dipai has also received valuable support here in Norway through innovation grants and advisory from our office in Ålesund,' says Ellefsen.
