International expansion and exports to the USA

The US as a market
The US economy is driven by its vast population, technological innovation, high consumer spending, high average income and moderate unemployment. The USA is a leading country in research and technological innovation. No other country has more Nobel Prize winners, and only China receives more patent applications each year.
The US is home to some of the world's most dynamic, diverse and attractive ecosystems: from entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley and commercialisation and finance in New York to Houston, the world's energy capital, and Washington D.C., the centre of political power.

We have strong networks and in-depth expertise across sectors and geographies. Our services and programmes include:

Opportunities for Norwegian companies in the US
We prioritise sectors and markets where Norwegian companies have a competitive advantage. This applies particularly to renewable energy and technology, driven by Biden's 'Green New Deal' and the 'Infrastructure & Jobs Act', as well as green mobility at sea and on land, health and entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship
From innovation, fresh thinking and scaling to growth and global expansion, US companies and entrepreneurs are at the forefront of creating and building the successful companies of today and tomorrow.
Silicon Valley and New York rank among the world's leading and most attractive locations for start-ups and scale-ups. With offices in both locations, we are well placed to support you. Our competence-building and accelerator programmes help you gain the knowledge and momentum to build your company and compete internationally. We can also connect you with our extensive network of experts, experienced entrepreneurs and business leaders.
Renewable energy
Significant investment is expected in building a new offshore wind ecosystem in the US. Both offshore wind and carbon capture, utilisation and storage require international expertise, and our US offices offer activities and networks that can help you enter the US market.
Smart societies
The construction sector has significant potential to reduce carbon emissions through sustainable building technologies and operational solutions, as well as the renovation of new and existing buildings.
Major initiatives have received funding in several US states, with New York and California leading the way through their ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050. New York has introduced a new law requiring all new buildings to incorporate sustainable, energy-efficient solutions before they can receive planning permission, while all older buildings must be converted or renovated using more sustainable solutions and technologies by 2040.
We offer activities including market insights, knowledge transfer, a Norwegian delegation to New York Estate Tech Week, and seminars with relevant government and business representatives, as well as matchmaking with US businesses.
Green mobility on land and water
US states and businesses are prioritising green transport solutions on land and water. This includes electrifying buses and railways, developing energy storage infrastructure and charging stations for electric vehicles, and modernising transport fleets, ferries, ships and other commercial vessels.
Health technology
The US market is the world's largest and most profitable market for healthcare products, health technology solutions and therapeutic products. The US is also the largest market for biopharmaceutical products, accounting for more than one-third of the global market, and is a leader in biopharmaceutical research and development.
