Government proposes NOK 1 billion for batteries in the national budget

The Norwegian government has allocated NOK 1 billion over five years in the national budget for major battery projects. 'This is an important contribution to building a Norwegian battery value chain and connecting us more closely with Europe's growing battery industry,' says our CEO, Håkon Haugli.

The funding will support technology development in pioneering pan-European projects and will be linked to associated participation in IPCEI EuBatIn. The aim is to enable Norwegian companies to help develop a competitive, innovative and sustainable battery value chain in Europe.

- In Norway, we have strong centres of expertise in low-carbon manufacturing, the process industry and recycling. We are well placed to contribute to Europe's major investment in batteries and the development of green industry and green energy solutions,' says Haugli.

- Norway aims to lead the development of green technology and sustainable solutions. But we do not need to, and should not, do everything alone. By joining Europe’s battery initiative, we can accelerate battery development and enable Norwegian companies to take their ambitions further. This creates opportunities for Norway’s battery industry, Norwegian exports and access to European markets.
