A vital commitment to entrepreneurs

The Norwegian Government's proposed national budget includes NOK 220 million in additional support for startups and growth companies. Of this, NOK 70 million will strengthen our funding schemes for startups and growth companies.

‘We may be at a tipping point: Surveys show that fewer young people want to start their own business, and entrepreneurial activity remains lower than before the COVID-19 pandemic. This is therefore a very welcome boost for entrepreneurs and growth companies,’ says Håkon Haugli, our CEO.

'Our support schemes are designed to unlock opportunities and improve startups’ access to public and private venture capital. Alongside funding schemes, we offer advisory services, courses, mentors and networking programmes across Norway,' adds Minister of Trade and Industry Jan Christian Vestre.

We have more start-ups and growth companies than before, and entrepreneurial communities have emerged across the country. However, businesses, banks and investors tell us that the capital market has tightened.

– In the years ahead, Norway needs more entrepreneurs, not fewer. Unlike our neighbouring countries, Norway faces a dual transition challenge: We need to create new businesses, as every country must, while also reducing our dependence on oil and gas.

'Entrepreneurs are crucial to transforming the Norwegian economy, developing innovative and sustainable solutions, and driving future value creation, employment and exports,' says Håkon Haugli.
