Signing an agreement to protect innovation

A large proportion of a company's assets are intangible, so protecting and managing them effectively is essential. Intangible assets include identifiers such as names and logos, as well as designs, intellectual property, patents, software, formulas, licences, prototypes and more.
To safeguard your company's competitive advantage and increase its value, you should take a strategic approach to managing your intangible assets and intellectual property rights (IPR).
This week, we and the Norwegian Industrial Property Office signed a cooperation agreement that lays the foundation for closer dialogue and the development of a joint action plan. Our aim is to meet businesses' need for IPR services and increase knowledge of how to protect intangible assets and intellectual property rights.
Effective IPR tools for Norwegian businesses
We offer advisory on protecting and commercially exploiting your company's intellectual property. Our CEO, Håkon Haugli, emphasises that the partnership agreement is key to providing businesses with the best possible support.
– Through our offices internationally and across Norway, we are in close contact with businesses. As a trusted partner, we are committed to ensuring that Norwegian businesses have the right tools to protect their assets. IPR is one of these tools.
Exclusive rights to your innovation are crucial
The Norwegian Industrial Property Office is the national centre for intellectual property and rights. It processes applications and grants patent, trademark and design rights in Norway to both Norwegian and international businesses. It also offers a wide range of courses, events, preliminary searches and guidance for businesses, academia and the innovation ecosystem.
Kathrine Myhre, CEO of the Norwegian Industrial Property Office, emphasises the importance of having a sound IP strategy and deciding how to protect and manage your intellectual assets.
'Having exclusive rights to your innovation is absolutely essential if you want to turn an idea or research result into a successful product or service and bring it to the Norwegian market – and, importantly, to the global market.'
We already work closely with the Norwegian Industrial Property Office and meet regularly to share experience and expertise. Together, we are making good progress in updating our digital services and the information on our websites.
