Policies for the tourism sectors

The accommodation and food service sector has significant overcapacity. We will therefore be very cautious about supporting further capacity increases. We can support market-driven innovation and major restructuring in businesses where this could improve profitability, but not overdue maintenance or refurbishment. We will be particularly cautious about awarding grants.

You can receive support for investments and business development initiatives in the experiences and activities sector. As in the accommodation sector, we will place considerable emphasis on the risk of excess capacity. You must document the market potential and financial viability.

We generally do not provide support to the transport sector. We may make exceptions for business development initiatives.

Businesses in the tourism processing and distribution sector (destination management companies, travel agencies and tour operators) may generally receive funding for business development initiatives (product development). We prioritise initiatives that attract inbound tourism.
