Resource assessment in agriculture

Farms with cattle facing major investment decisions to meet loose-housing requirements.
For example, if dairy production has already been converted to loose housing, you cannot receive funding to assess a similar conversion for young cattle.
From 2027, the scheme will also apply to sheep farms in Northern Norway.
Priorities may vary between counties. See the regional guidelines for your region.
You can use the grant for
- External assistance to assess the farm's available resources, future plans and alternative options, business idea and operating model, including the personal, land, quota, financial and physical resources available to the farming family and the farm (strategic choices).
- External assistance to assess the level of investment your farm can manage while maintaining financial viability across different operating models, including conversion to loose housing, preparation of financial projections, assessment of whether existing buildings can be used, and whether the conversion can be completed in stages.
- External assistance to assess the extent to which existing buildings can be used, including as a basis for potential phased development and expansion.
- If dedicated regional projects cover and fully or partly fund the first two bullet points, you can limit your application to external assistance to assess the extent to which existing buildings can be used, including as a basis for potential phased development and expansion.
Your application must be based on an individual quote from an external adviser.
You cannot use the grant for
- Preparation of complete building plans, tender documents and similar materials.
- Any other financial or professional advisory related to operations or investments.
How much funding can you receive?
- Up to 100% of external costs, capped at NOK 100,000. The maximum amount applies primarily where extensive surveys of existing buildings, ground conditions, etc. are required.
- If your application is limited to assessing the extent to which existing buildings can be used, including as a basis for potential phased development and construction, you may receive a grant covering up to 100% of the costs, capped at NOK 60,000.
You must submit your application before starting the activities, and it must include the following:
1. About the company
Under Who are you:

3. Additional information
- Here you can add any information you consider relevant to the application.
The project period (eligible costs) starts on the date you submit your application.
The maximum project period is 9 months, plus 3 months to receive payment of the grant.
We process applications on an ongoing basis. Please note that you must meet the deadlines for accepting the offer and requesting payment. Otherwise, we will cancel the grant.
